Module 1: Elements & Modalities
Here, we begin our journey into unlocking the “codes” of Astrology. We start at the center of the building blocks of nature, leading to an understanding of why each person responds to life differently. So, we begin our training by thinking in terms of how nature behaves… or how elements move within their inherent nature.
You will learn:
A brief history of astrology
The four elements and their substance (what they are made of)
Modalities (or quadruplicities): how the elements “move” themselves
Module 2: Zodiacal Signs
We’ll put the elements and modalities together, shaping the 12 zodiacal signs, with each sign containing (and offering) resources and opportunities for growth to the planets as they traverse the celestial plane.
You will learn:
The context of the zodiac being the backdrop (or container) of creation
That the zodiac (12 signs) marks the path of the planets
Signs as the “garments” the planets (and sensitive points) wear
Module 3: Planets
We will dive into the “wandering stars,” or planets: the “beings” of the solar system. Here, we discover that the planets are the main presence influencing a chart; they are the ones acting out the story of our life (or an event, etc…)
You will learn:
The difference in the energy between a planet and a sign
The nature or job/agenda of each planet
The different roles of the traditional “seen” planets and the outer, non-visible (with the naked eye) planets
Module 4: Houses
The heavens are divided into 12 segments, or houses, each representing an area of life. This unit will show where the planets live (or pass through), and how that activates that area of life.
You will learn:
Traditional house significations, and topics of each house
Some modern significations, and topics of each house
Strength of each house (i.e., easy and hard places for planets to execute and express themselves)
Module 5: Aspects
Aspects geometrically connect planets to each other, showing us the conversations between the planets (and sensitive points). In this section, we examine how aspect sets break the circle down into different geometric patterns.
You will learn:
The (ptolemaic) major aspect set
The (modern) minor aspects
How aspects connect planets to each other
The relational energy between the planets
Module 6: Sect… day births, night births and what this means to you
In astrology, the Sun and Moon are the luminaries, or LIGHTS of the sky. Sect shows us the luminary “tribe” one belongs to, based on the birth occurring after sunrise or after night rise.
You will learn:
Are you of The solar tribe: the Sun as sect leader
Are you of The lunar tribe: the Moon as sect leader
Weighing the importance of the “benefics” and “malefics” based on a day or night birth
Module 7: Synthesis... How to read a chart
Here, we bring all the pieces of the puzzle together. We will explore wheel patterns and fine tune the eyes to see the aspect patterns. We will also begin to discern which are the strong planets and weak planets in a given moment in time.
You will learn:
What to pay attention to in a sea of symbols
The beginnings of how to distinguish/weigh what in the chart stands out
Looking at the chart as a whole, seeing the chart as an interconnected “ecosystem”

About Shannon Aganza
Creator of Astrology Foundations
Shannon Aganza is an Oracular Astrologer and educator with a rich international practice and 30 years of experience. As an educator, Shannon integrates traditional (Hellenistic) techniques with modern applications. Shannon’s readings — both in-person and virtual — incorporate disciplines of traditional astrology with modern techniques, and often include numerology, tarot, and her unique intuitive gifts. The result allows your higher self to transmit through the birth chart and guide you toward the true light on your life’s path.
Shannon works with individuals, groups, and businesses in varied industries such as engineers in tech, doctors, and researchers within progressive medical communities, professional and Olympic athletes, as well as A-listers within the entertainment industry. Course FAQs!
When: Online course: July 20 through August 31 (seven weeks), Wednesdays at 12 pm PT / 3 pm ET / 2 pm CT. Each class meeting will be about two hours long.
Where: Zoom! You’ll receive a link via your student portal each week so you can easily access our online meeting.
What if I miss a class? All classes will be recorded and uploaded to your MoonGathering student portal where you can watch (and re-watch!) each week's lesson. You can access these recordings during the course and beyond, so you can revisit these lessons and this material well after the course ends for continued study.
How do I access all of this? We have set up an easy-to-use student portal (created during course sign up) that organizes all course materials, Zoom meeting links, and class Zoom recordings – organized by week and module name. All of this material will be available to you as we meet each week, as well as after the course has completed.
What about class handouts for the online course? Each class will have a set of PDF-type “handouts” available for you to view and download. These learning aids, which we’ll be going over during class, are full of helpful illustrations, diagrams, and text that will further help you understand these amazing foundations of Astrology. These handouts have been crafted specifically for this course and designed beautifully by my husband, a graphic designer for over 25 years!
